Struggling for a jab

We learned that we might well be eligible, or nearly eligible, for a vaccination here in Turkey, but had to go through a fairly long registration process. This entailed, first, going to the post office for a government website password to be texted to us, then return to the computer to register on the website, then transfer the registration over to the state medical site, then finally find out if we are eligible or not and then, eventually, book an appointment. I stalled before the eligibility bit as either the website crashed or my Google Translate assisted registration wasn’t quite right. But I shall try again later.

There were a lot of police on the streets, perhaps because of the NATO conference in Brussels today, perhaps for some other reason.

Another hitch, this time in our travel plans for July as it turns out major trains are still not running so our epic journey to the other end of the country might have to be by air. The good news is that I found a very good website by a Turkish anorak with all the news about the trains (and learned that the least interesting part of the journey should this year be connected to the high speed network as well). Here’s hoping the trains run again, and soon.

And a final hitch was breakfast related as after a few weeks’ break we went down to the mezze shop to find they were out of tarama. They are making a new batch tomorrow, and I think I shall go and get some. It’s an important sort of day, and I will want to take a break and perhaps buy something for myself, and if nothing else is found, it’ll be tarama for breakfast.
